Whispers : Rob van Rijswijk and Jeroen Strijbos

Whispers is a sound and visual installation created by composers Rob van Rijswijk and Jeroen Strijbos, and visual artist Pierluigi Pompeï. The piece comprises five ceramic trumpets, each one emitting distorted laughter, murmuring and general noise. The idea is based on losing one’s hearing, and how that can change someone’s interpretation of sound.

Sonica is a weekend long sonic arts festival held in various venues throughout Glasgow, that aims to provide a platform for emerging British and International talent. Music, visual art, performance and multimedia feature in this festival, showcasing unique pieces that are rarely seen elsewhere.

Whispers was presented at Sonica 2013, produced by Cryptic and took place at Tramway, Glasgow.
