Fraser Taylor : Figure/Ground

Chicago based artist Fraser Taylor introduces his exhibition ‘Figure/Ground’, a body of work undertaken in his 1 year sabbatical from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Taylor returned to his home in Scotland to create work focusing on the method of drawing, and taking inspiration from the landscapes surrounding the Wasp’s studios he worked out of in Shetland, Newburgh and Glasgow.

Fraser Taylor is an artist based in Chicago, where he works at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Born in England, but raised in Glasgow, Taylor studied printed textiles at the Glasgow School of Art. Taylor went on to receive an MA at the Royal College of London. After completing his education, Taylor and three colleagues set up their own company, The Cloth, which was a creative studio that centred around fine art and design practices and their function within contemporary textile design and production.

This exhibition is on at The Briggait, Glasgow, until the 31st January 2014.
