Slavs and Tatars : Lektor

Art collective Slavs and Tatars explore Mirrors for Princes – a medieval form of advice literature intended for future rulers, that related to good leadership on subjects such as grooming, speech, education and belief. Situated in the Collective Gallery’s City Dome, the artists have created a multi-channel audio installation, featuring excerpts from an influential 11th century Turkic Mirror for Princes, Kutadgu Bilig (Wisdom of Royal Glory), which has been translated into Turkish, German, Polish, Arabic and Scottish Gaelic.

Lektor is on at the Collective Gallery City Dome, Edinburgh, until the 12th July 2015.
