Book Week Scotland 2013 Murals

As part of Book Week Scotland 2013 and to celebrate reading and the importance of libraries in Scotland, four artists were commissioned to create five new artworks unveiled on a different library across the country over the course of the week.

Five of Scotland’s leading authors, Liz Lochhead, Angus Peter Campbell/Aonghas Phàdraig Caimbeul, Alan Bissett, Viv French and James Robertson met and discussed what they thought was important about reading, resulting in five statements from the discussion, which were incorporated into the murals.

We captured the unveiling of three of the murals, in Bonnybridge Library, Buckhaven Library and Castlemilk Library. Claire Stewart from the Scottish Book Trust introduces the murals, explaining the rationale behind the project.
