Bill Hare : Tidal Series by Boyle Family – How Anything Became Everything

Art historian Bill Hare, introduces the work of the Boyle Family and their 1969 work Tidal Series, which is on display at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.

The Boyle Family consisted of Mark Boyle and Joan Hills, and later their children Sebastian and Georgia, adopting the name Boyle Family in 1985. For nearly 50 years, the family have been creating art, and are renowned for their earth studies, which are three dimensional casts of the surface of the earth. Mark passed away in 2005, but the family still continue to make work under the name of the Boyle Family.

The Tidal Series is part of the New Acquisitions series at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, and is displayed until the 1st March, 2014.
