Rebuilding Scotland : Mark Walker Architect

Architects working in Scotland have in the past complained about the chocolate-box preferences of rural planning departments, favouring a lazy pastiche of one and a half storey stone cottages. Here architect Mark Walker explains his struggle to introduce a different vernacular type to rural Scotland aiming to provide a relatively low cost but visually integrated structure with projects underway in rural Perthshire and the Scottish Borders.
