Christopher Baker : Alan Cumming Portrait

Director of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Christopher Baker, introduces the gallery’s newest commission, an abstract portrait of the famous Scottish actor, Alan Cumming. Painted by artist Christian Hook, the commission came about as a result of the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of The Year 2014 competition, which lasted over 10 months and involved heats held around the country to find new portrait painters.

The commission now forms part of the gallery’s permanent collection and can be seen in the Great Hall on the ground floor of the gallery.

Head over to Writer Stories TV and see an interview with Alan Cumming, about his film The Anniversary, back in 2002.
